CONSULTED VISA

The consulted visa is solved exclusively by the General Directorate of Immigration in Costa Rica and may take up to 90 days to be resolved.

The requirements can be sent to the Consulate of Costa Rica by mail, but, if the visa is approved, the applicant must be present at the Consulate (by appointment) to receive the stamp of the visa.

Prior to the delivery of the documents by mail, all the requirements can be sent scanned to the email embcr-ca@rree.go.cr for an initial assessment to confirm all requirements are complete.

Requirements:

    Request letter addressed to the Consul of Costa Rica, containing: full name and surname, nationality, passport number, place of residence, reason for the trip, estimated time of stay in Costa Rica, place and approximate date of arrival and departure to Costa Rica, profession or trade, exact address of the place where the applicant will be staying in Costa Rica, date and place of birth of the applicant, fax or email to receive notifications, date and signature.

    Valid passport or travel document with an expiration date of more than six months. In addition, copy of the whole document

    Ticket reservation, return ticket or ticket proving the continuation of the trip.

    Proof of the economic means of the applicant.

    Provide valid criminal records legalized. If they are in another language, they must be provided with their proper translation into Spanish.

    Provide birth certificate legalized. If they are in another language, they must be provided with their proper translation into Spanish.

    The Consul or the Immigration Authority of Costa Rica may request, if necessary, additional documents that are issued in the applicant's country of origin, provided that their presentation is essential for the analysis in granting the visa.

    Proof of payment for US $ 52 for the consulted visa process plus the legalization costs that can be deposited in any branch of the TD Canada Trust, in the account N°02296-004-7304961, under the name of "Embassy of Costa Rica, Consular Services. " If a bank transfer is made, an additional US $ 14 must be deposited to cover the bank fees.

    A passport-sized photograph.

In case that the visa is approved, it must be used within a period of sixty days, after it is stamped on the passport and is valid to enter Costa Rica for a single entry.
